Giving Up

Is it wrong to sometimes give up on things?  My parents always used to tell me that you should never give up on anything: hold your ground and follow everything through.

But that doesn’t work all the time.  Sometimes, people get damaged more by refusing to accept defeat; and though it is often difficult, realising that early on can be healthier.

The point is that you have to be strong enough to learn when what you’re doing is detrimental: whether to yourself or others,.  The bigger the thing your doing, obviously the more difficult it is to do.  Things that you’ve invested a lot of time time and effort in, like degrees, relationships, even family can be tremendously difficult to just give up and accept defeat.  But if it’s more healthy for t least you, and probably others involved, surely that’s better, right?
